First I need to understand what kind of simple ramp would be useful.
After speaking with some friends I believe a gradient ramp that is to be used for transitions would be good.
The following parameters are what I believe would be usefyl ( if you think otherwise or have suggestions please comment! ):
Direction – The direction the gradient runs or the z rotation.
Coverage – The overall length of the gradient ramp is from where the direction vector enters and then exists. This means it will be different depending on angle. The coverage is the how much of this distance the gradient ramp covers 0 -1.
Offset – Offsets the gradient ramp on X axis before it is rotated. 0 renderers all max color while 100 renders all min color.
Also thinking about repeat and mirror parameters.
